Winter is the transition between Christmas and Easter. This time of year is always hard. You take down all the lights and glitter of Christmas, and your house all of a sudden seems dark and empty. It typically isn’t a very long period, and I don’t spend a lot of time on the decor for this season. Instead, I use the time to start thinking and planning what I want to do for Spring. I like to stick to the color scheme I had for Christmas; it makes for a quick switch.
STEP 1 | START WITH A CLEAN SLATE
Start by cleaning everything off the sofa, coffee table, and side tables. Now that Christmas is over I switched the end tables back to their normal locations.
STEP 2 | ADD A THROW
I kept the faux sheepskin rug on the backside of the sofa. It works well with a winter look.
STEP 3 | SWAP OUT YOUR PILLOW COVERS
A quick and inexpensive way that I create a fresh new living room from season to season is through pillow covers. I moved around the pillow covers from Christmas to create a new black and white winter theme. No need to purchase or create new covers this time.
STEP 4 | ADD IN DECOR
I again rearranged the decor items from around my house. I used the candle arrangement that was on the hutch in the dining room and used it as the centerpiece for the coffee table. It is as if you purchased new decor items when you relocate them to different areas around your home.
MISSION COMPLETE
In one afternoon you are all set for the winter season!
