For me, the winter season is a short period. It is after the Christmas decorations have been taken down until it is time to decorate the house to welcome spring. With the Easter holiday always fluctuating, it can be a short or a more extended period. This year with Easter in the middle of April we have a couple of months of winter decor.
Here is how I styled an instant refresh in the living room for the winter season.
STEP 1 | START WITH A CLEAN SLATE
Clear everything off the sofa, coffee table, and end table. I decided it was time to rearrange the sofa again. It gives you an opportunity to clean the area where the sofa was. Nothing like starting the new year with a clean room.
STEP 2 | ADD A THROW
I love using this faux sheepskin scatter rug as a throw on the back of the my sofa. I found the sheepskin rug at Home Goods last year.
STEP 3 | CHANGE PILLOW COVERS
I kept the majority of the pillows from Christmas. I like the black and navy color scheme, it seemed fitting for a winter color scheme. I did change the sequin pillow cover out for the script pillow I picked up from 521Handmade.
STEP 4 | ADD SEASONAL DECOR
For winter decor I keep it very simple and paired down. After the extreme of Christmas, it is nice to go back to minimal decor for a few months. The only thing new is the white round box from Target. It has a brass and orange bee on the top of it, a cute additional.
THE REST OF THE LIVING ROOM
Here is the other side of the living room where the sofa used to be.
LIVING ROOM COMPLETE
I am enjoying the new layout and refreshed decor until it is time to decorate for spring!
