I can’t believe we are on Week 3 already of the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge, where I am updating the guest bedroom. This week has been all about deciding to add additional projects to the bedroom. The drop-down bedroom ceiling is getting switched to tongue and groove boards. In case you have missed anything along the way, catch up on Week 1 and Week 2.
The Bedroom Ceiling Before
The original plan was to leave the drop ceiling as is. But in true remodeling fashion, as we started the process, we began making changes and adding additional items. And we ended up adding another project this week; we decided to rip out the ceiling tiles and finish the bedroom ceiling with painted tongue and groove boards.
Goodbye Bedroom Ceiling Tiles
After checking behind the tiles to make sure the drop ceiling wasn’t hiding any surprises and making sure the drywall continued up to the ceiling trusses, down it came.
Let there be light!
Having the ceiling wide open, we decided now is the perfect time to add some recessed can lighting. The plan is to have the recessed can lighting on a separate dimmer switch to allow for flexible lighting levels.
Coming Up Next Week
This next week I am giving the tongue and groove boards a coat of paint before installation. Once installed on the ceiling, I will give it a final coat of paint. Hopefully, I will finally get started on the faux denim walls.
