The days are getting longer, and the weather is starting to get warmer, spring is around the corner! I can’t wait until all the snow has melted and we begin to see green grass. After a long winter of white, it is time for some color. It will be another month or so before we see color outside, but that doesn’t mean I can’t add it inside.
Here is how I transformed the living room sofa for the spring and the upcoming Easter holiday.
Spring is a fun season to decorate. It can be full of bright and bold colors or soft pastels. This year I was feeling the pastel love.
STEP 1 | START WITH A CLEAN SLATE
Start by cleaning everything off the sofa, coffee table, and side tables. The plant was moved back upstairs to behind the sofa. I also swapped out rugs. The ivory shag rug went into the master bedroom, and the indoor/outdoor rug was moved out into the living room. It gives the living room a lighter feel.
STEP 2 | ADD A THROW
The faux sheepskin rug was put away until next winter. With spring around the corner, it is time to add color to the living room. I brought out a light blue throw for spring.
STEP 3 | SWAP OUT YOUR PILLOW COVERS
A quick and inexpensive way that I create a fresh new living room from season to season is through pillow covers. I found the furry plaid pillow at Home Goods and knew it was the perfect starting point for my spring color palette. I then found the beautiful pomegranate fabric at Hobby Lobby, and my palette is set.

STEP 4 | ADD IN DECOR
The new orchid flower arrangement became the focal point on the coffee table. The copper leaf robin eggs found a home inside a glass box. Have to keep them safe from the puppy. He has been more destructive on the home decor than my child.
